The mental load of women.. can only, truly be understood by a woman.
We go through life looking for equality, and rightly so.
Equality should be there in the workplace when two people perform the same work, with the same level of dedication; regardless of gender.
There is more equality in the home now too – in how we raise our families. We see more men have an active role in the upkeep of the home as well as raising the children.
I am strongly of the thought also, that each partner has their individual role to play as well.
This is where the mental load of being a woman comes in.
The mental load that comes with being an ambitious woman, raising a family – a home and growing her own aspirations.
This is often not given the recognition that it should.
As women, we need to somewhat “toughen up” in our work settings if we want to be on a par with our male counterparts. Often having to dim that natural spark that we as women, have.
Then as mothers, we tend to carry much of the mental load.
Appointments.. food.. clothing.. activities.. the list goes on.
We are often the “default” parent. The one that the children run to when they fear monsters under their bed or the one they want to cuddle when they are ill and feeling weak.
As a woman, the physical demands of giving birth as well as the physical make-up of our bodies, requires that we work harder to get to the fitness level we desire.
To top it off, society’s expectation of “ageless” women and the constant berating of their evolving role in society is the sweet icing on the cake.
We are so incredible, and we are so strong.
Ladies, we are doing GREAT!
